Another Short Update

The last week. Thank God. Of course the days just crawl by. Part of that is just wanting to get the hell out of here, but it doesn't help that I've given all my work to my replacement. Now I just sit here and wait for him to have a question and clean out my desk. Maybe I'll work on some longer blog posts.

One thing I haven't done is give everyone an exercise update. You know you care. The good news is that I won't do the usual day-by-day bit. I haven't been doing much bike riding lately with everything else going on, but I have been doing a lot of stairs at work. Between runs to the cafeteria (four floors) and using the john two floors below my office, I'm climbing anywhere from 18 to 25 floors of stairs a day. I'm also still doing the whole Tibetan Rites thing, working my way up towards perfection (21 reps of each of the five rites). I'm currently at 11 and plan to move up to 12 next Monday. I had hoped to be a lot closer to 21 by now, but I got seriously stuck at 9. Just one of those things. Like I've said before, they don't seem to do much, but I keep noticing little bunches of muscles sticking out here and there that I haven't seen since high school, so they must be doing something.

Now if I could just stop stuffing my pie hole and lose a little weight, I'd feel more prepared for Arcosanti. But I love stuffing my pie hole more than (almost) anything else in the world, so it's going to be tough. I need to lose about 50 pounds, but there isn't any way I'm going to even try to drop that kind of weight in less than 60 days. Half that would be nice. Ten pounds would be nice. I would even view not managing to gain between now and November 5th as a step in the right direction. And I'm just rambling now, so I'll shut up.

Closer and Closer

The days keep ticking by. Sorry for the abandoned blog, but it just can't be helped at this point. After next Friday, I should have some time to get this place back in the groove. I'm also taking requests for topics. So far, I've been asked to write essays on why I'm leaving my current job, why I'm ditching my "career", why Arizona, and why Arcosanti. If there is anything else you would like to read about while you are supposed to be working, let me know.

Countdown

9 days, 4 hours, 43 minutes left. Time is going both too fast (getting things ready for departure) and too slow (getting out of this thankless, shit job). Made good progress this weekend, so I feel marginally better about the current status than I did a week ago. Auction goods are piled high in the garage waiting to be loaded onto the truck, and the sorting and elimination of personal detris is proceeding apace. There are three 50-gallon trash bags at the side of the road this morning that contain nothing but shit that I used to think was important. There is still way more than there should be, but the volume has been significantly reduced.

By the way, there are four 8-foot banquet tables loaded with semi-useless shit that is free for the taking. Anyone in the Alden, MI area that is interested, contact me via private e-mail and we will set up a time for you to carry off as much as you want. Whatever is left goes into the local landfill, so don't be shy.

Our 44th President

So much for the age of Aquarius being all lovey dovey. Yea, I know. It's just because I hate women so much.

Another Brief Update

Damn weekend was crazy-busy, but a lot got accomplished. One storage shed EMPTY, the garage nearly EMPTY except one pile that people can pick through for free stuff until September 16th when it all goes to the dump, and a second pile that will be sold off in about three weeks. The house is still a wreck, but a wreck with a lot less crap in it than was there a few days ago. In short, definite progress. But deadlines are looming and I'm not happy with where things are at. I had hoped to be much further along by this point.

Needless to say, the blog will be sadly neglected for several more weeks. I'll get back to a routine at some point. Promise. In the meantime, does anybody want a bunch of semi-useless shit?
